2020 Pinot Noir - Elizabeth's Vineyard
Dry Red Table Wine
104 Cases Produced
Grape: 100% Pinot Noir
Alcohol: 10.5%
Total sulfite addition: 35 ppm
- Whole Cluster/foot crushed, 100% stem inclusion
- Old French oak barrels: 11 months
- Unfined and Unfiltered
TASTING NOTE: Nose of fresh cherries, sandalwood and oak. Light, fresh and seamless
with bright acid, a powdery texture and a gentle tannic grip.
ELEVAGE: Grapes were foot crushed and put whole cluster into one ton bins to ferment
with once daily punchdowns. After thirteen days the grapes were pressed and settled
juice was moved to old French oak barrels to complete fermentation. In late-August
of 2021 the wine was racked out of barrel into tank and bottled by hand without fining
or filtration.
VINEYARD: Located in Hector, New York on the eastern shore of Seneca Lake, this west
facing vineyard is composed of shallow silt loam soil over fractured shale on a slope
leading to some of the lake's deepest waters. Lovingly farmed by second generation
grower John Leidenfrost and his daughter, Elizabeth, the vineyard's privileged exposure
and thin, shale laden soil produce wines of great depth and backbone.

Tilled up "soil" during some new planting at Elizabeth's Vineyard.
