2023 GEWURZTRAMINER
No, Really, It's Dry

Dry White Table Wine

Grape: 100% gewurztraminer
Alcohol: 11.6%
Total added sulfite: 40 ppm
Ingredients: Grapes, yeast, sulfite
Crushed and destemmed
48 hour maceration
Stainless steel for 12 months
Unfined and Unfiltered
Farming: Conventional/sustainable
Vineyard: Leidenfrost Vineyards - Seneca Lake, west facing, steep slope
Soil: Shallow silt loam over fractured shale

Note: Lychee, orange blossom and rose petal, dry with citrus fruit and chalky acid.

Elevage: Grapes were crushed, destemmed and macerated for 48 hours. Pressed, settled juice was moved to stainless steel where fermentation, including full malolactic, finished by the end of July. In September of 2024 the wine was racked off its lees and bottled without fining or filtration.

Miscellaneous: Historically we make gewurztraminer as a sparkler but this vintage was so nice we felt it should be a still wine. The grapes themselves were perfectly ripe with lots of color and for once some of that color made it into the bottle. A little reduction on the nose but worth it for the fruit and texture.
