2022 MERLOT
Lamb's Quarters Vineyard
Dry Red Table Wine
49 cases produced
Grape: 100% Merlot
Alcohol: 11.3%
Total sulfite addition: 45 ppm
21 days on skins
French oak barrels (6-12 years-old) for 11 months
Unfined and unfiltered
Farming: Conventional/sustainable
Vineyard: Seneca Lake, west facing, gentle slope
Soil: Honeoye Silt Loam and Lansing Gravelly Loam over shale
Note: Cherry fruit, dried leaves, flint, light body, juicy, herbal, red fruited wine with fine tannin
and a saline, acid driven finish.
Elevage: Grapes were crushed and destemmed into a bin and let to ferment with once daily
punchdowns. After twenty-one days the grapes were pressed and settled juice was moved
to old French oak barrels to complete fermentation, including full malolactic, which finished
in August of 2023. In September the wine was racked out of barrel and bottled by hand
without fining or filtration.
Miscellaneous: This is our first ever one-hundred percent merlot release. Bright and juicy
with salty acids this wine can stand up to big flavors on the plate. Raised in old pinot noir
barrels.
