Grape: 100% Chardonnay
Alcohol: 9.9%
Total sulfite addition: 60 ppm
Ingredients: Grapes, yeast, sulfite
Crushed and destemmed
2/3 French oak (8 year-old) for 12 months, 1/3 stainless steel tank
23 months total on lees
Unfined and unfiltered
Farming: New York State Certified Sustainable
Vineyard: Lamoreaux Landing - Seneca Lake - Lodi - west facing, gentle slope
Soil: Honeoye Silt Loam and Lansing Gravelly Loam over shale
NOTE: Yellow flowers, oak spice, pear, light in the mouth with juicy acids and a chalky finish.
ELEVAGE: Grapes were crushed destemmed and pressed. Settled juice was moved to two
eight-year-old French oak barrels with the remainder going into stainless steel.
Fermentation, including full malolactic, continued over about twelve months. In September
of 2023 the barrels were emptied and combined with the tank wine to age an additional
eleven months in stainless. In August of 2024 the wine was racked off its lees and bottled
without fining or filtration.
MISCELLANEOUS: Since 2010 we have taken the fruit from these same two rows of clone 4
chardonnay--the vines are 30+ years-old—and the consistency across vintages has been
remarkable. Big crop, small crop, rain, drought, they just do what they always do and the
resulting wine is our favorite white year in and year out.
